At the Futurecom 2026 event in São Paulo, floLIVE and Skylo Technologies announced a combined cellular-satellite IoT service for Brazil.

Brazilian telecom partners iuh! Digital and NLT Telecom will handle service delivery. The service links floLIVE’s local cellular network and core platform with Skylo’s satellite non-terrestrial network (NTN) layer. This combination targets industrial and enterprise IoT applications where terrestrial coverage is spotty.

It functions under 3GPP Release 17, permitting ordinary 4G/5G cellular IoT modems to form satellite links via a software update. No dedicated satellite terminals or hardware alterations are needed for the modems to access the satellite link. A single‑SIM multi‑IMSI (multiple International Mobile Subscriber Identity) design lets devices use local Brazilian cellular networks to save money and switch to Skylo’s satellite NTN when ground coverage fades.

The technology depends on commercial chipsets and modules, enabling IoT devices to connect to the satellite network without new terminals or extra hardware. floLIVE’s carrier‑grade platform manages connectivity together with its distributed core network. This setup provides unified device orchestration, handles billing and tracks sessions in real time.

The service reaches roughly 214 countries and regions. Target sectors include agriculture, utilities, logistics, industrial operations and transportation. Example applications include tracking livestock, monitoring fleets and cargo, metering utilities remotely and connecting mining equipment. Skylo’s non‑terrestrial network is active on five continents.

It holds licenses in 41 countries. More than 20 mobile network operators route traffic through the network.

Skylo said it has run similar hybrid NTN integrations in markets worldwide. It pointed to Vodafone IoT’s global hybrid satellite‑cellular service as an example. It also cited Blues’ hybrid IoT module, which offers seamless satellite failover, as another example.

floLIVE stated it provides multi‑network cellular service in Brazil via two national carriers. It also offers a carrier‑grade platform that manages connectivity at scale.

Together, the partners aim to help IoT providers and enterprises in Brazil link the performance and economics of cellular links with the geographic reach of satellite. The collaboration seeks to address connectivity gaps in remote regions of Brazil by merging terrestrial and satellite links.
