AnySignal announced on October 20, 2026, that it has agreed to supply space-to-Earth communications for Reflect Orbital’s first three missions. The agreement, announced in Los Angeles, covers Reflect Orbital’s inaugural satellite and two subsequent missions.
The contract includes delivery of AnySignal’s USX transceiver for flight operations aboard Reflect Orbital spacecraft, along with AnyLink software for ground connectivity. The USX is a multi-band software-defined radio, a type of radio that can be reconfigured by changing its software to operate on different frequency bands without requiring hardware changes. This single unit consolidates high-rate payload downlinks and Telemetry, Tracking, and Command functions – TT&C being the communication link that allows ground control to monitor the spacecraft’s status and send commands – into one hardware module.
By eliminating the need for separate band-specific radios, the single USX unit cuts mass and cabling on Reflect Orbital’s satellite bus. The reduction in mass and cabling is a direct result of consolidating functions that would otherwise require separate hardware modules.
AnyLink acts as an interface for multiple ground-station-as-a-service providers. Ground-station-as-a-service, or GSaaS, is a model where companies provide access to ground station infrastructure on a subscription or pay-per-use basis, allowing satellite operators to avoid building their own ground networks. AnyLink aggregates access to multiple GSaaS providers, so Reflect Orbital operators can reach different third-party ground networks through a single architecture without managing separate architectures for each network.
John Malsbury, CEO and Co-Founder of AnySignal, said the company is excited to provide Reflect with full-stack communications for their upcoming missions. “AnySignal is excited to provide Reflect with full-stack communications for their upcoming missions,” said CEO and Co-Founder John Malsbury.
Ben Nowack, Co-Founder and CEO of Reflect Orbital, said his firm chose AnySignal for its flight radio and ground software because it provides an end-to-end communications solution. Nowack said the choice let Reflect Orbital de-risk early operations and concentrate on novel spacecraft engineering.
Reflect Orbital develops space-enabled infrastructure to redirect sunlight from orbit to precise locations on Earth. The company says redirecting sunlight can extend solar farm generation and provide light for nighttime search-and-rescue and construction work.
AnySignal is a U.S.-based company that designs, builds, integrates, and operates end-to-end radio-frequency systems for civil, commercial, and national security customers across land, air, sea, and space.
